A website for every subordinate Lodge in Virginia
A wonderful capability is about to become a reality! Over the past year, your Committee on Information Technology has been hard at work to provide every Lodge with a web presence. This year we have tackled a very ambitious goal of standing up a static website for every Virginia Lodge.
Our plan has been to build a site based upon reasonably static information sent to the Grand Secretary as part of the normal duties of the Lodge Secretaries and other information that rarely changes such as Lodge history, meeting nights, Charter dates, and the Lodge address. Our goal is to give every Virginia Lodge a web presence. Each Lodge will have a website that is stored and maintained by our Committee.
With this approach, every Lodge can gain some of the advantages of the internet that have really become the information and the new yellowbook tool of choice. These static websites do not replace the more dynamic Lodge websites which should contain trestleboards, calendars, and pictures from social and community events. Lodges that do have websites linked from the Grand Lodge website will soon find that link accessible through their static websites.
All of the static sites will be maintained and stored by the Grand Lodge Committee on Information Technology and the Grand Lodge Webmaster, who will use automated procedures to extract information to build these new web pages.
