Wayne Sawyer Flora
Wayne Sawyer Flora was born in Princess Anne County, Virginia on August 17, 1942. He graduated from Princess Anne High School and attended the Norfolk Division of the College of William and Mary. He is President of Flora Electric Company and is licensed as a Master Electrical Contractor in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the State of North Carolina. Also he is a part-time farmer.
Right Worshipful Brother Flora was made a Master Mason in Princess Anne Lodge No. 25 on March 8, 1967. He is an honorary member and served as Worshipful Master in 1975 and currently, is a Lodge Trustee. He served the Lodge as Secretary from 1981-2000. He was District Deputy Grand Master of Masonic District 56 in 1988. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the Masonic Home of Virginia. He was elected Grand Junior Deacon in November 2009.
Brother Flora is a member of the Valley of Norfolk, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite and was invested Knight Commander Court of Honour in 2011. He is a Past Grand High Priest and Trustee of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Virginia, Past District Deputy Grand High Priest of Capitular District 2, Past High Priest of Princess Anne Royal Arch Chapter No. 1607 and Virginia Research Royal Arch Chapter No. 1753 and a member of Great Bridge Royal Arch Chapter No. 82. He is a member of Grice Commandery No. 16; Past Sovereign Master of Princess Anne Council No. 129, Allied Masonic Degrees; Past Puissant Sovereign of Saint Thomas Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine; member of Hampton Roads York Rite College No. 95; and Past Patron of Kempsville Chapter No. 173, Order of the Eastern Star. He holds membership in Emerald Isle Council No. 30, Knight Masons; Grand College of Rites of the United States, Oxford Lodge No. 1, Ark Mariners of Maine; Order of the Corks, Order of the Bath, and Order of Thrice Illustrious Master. Brother Flora is a recipient of the Honorary Legion of Honor, DeMolay International and the Order of the Purple Cross from the York Rite Sovereign College of North America.
He has been married for forty-nine years to the former Mary Ann Newman. They are the proud parents of a son, Cecil, and his wife, Dawn; a daughter, Ginger, and her husband, Todd; and three grandchildren, Mary Beth, Justin and Heath. They attend Courthouse Community United Methodist Church.
